So What Wednesday!

Y'all I'm linking up with Shannon again for So What Wednesday!
SO WHAT....
  • If this is the first time I have used the button to link back up... I am so lazy.
  • That my two biggest fears about the 1/2 marathon this weekend are that I will psych myself out running or that I will poop myself. Y'all ever see those marathon runners that do that? I will be porta pottying FO SHO.
  • If I keep forgetting my birthday is Friday. My nerves about Saturday are TAKING OVAAA
  • I spend more money to buy the pop up popcorn bowls just because I think they are more fun. Just bought a new flavor "classic" and it is pretty delish
  • I am DYING without Diet Coke. I swore to myself that I would only drink water and hot tea and I am craaaviiingg a crisp DC
  • I am procrastinating the crap out of the stuff I have due next week. It's my birthday week... right?
  • That I love getting presents! Nicole finally let me open my stuff since we are leaving tomorrow and I love EVERYTHING she got me. Girl gets, me fo sho! See:
The shirt necklace bracelet and key selector are all from Francesca's and the clutch is from her sweet momma! Love that fam :)

Happy Wednesday (Night) Y'all!

Liebe

I was one of those cool kids who took German in high school. No seriously, I took three years of French and three years of German. However, I cannot speak either well. At all. I refused to learn Spanish. You know, the most useful language these days? Yep, absolutely refused.

Anyways. Right now Ich liebe: the rain that is falling, my lovely Christmas trees and birthday presents under them from my Rooms, and that my class was cancelled for tomorrow.

I keep forgetting that I have a birthday this week because a. I feel like 23 is an awkward age and b. I am running a 1/2 marathon the day after and the nerves of that are overwhelming the birthday excitement.

Anyways, back to things I am loving.

I am also loving these two lovely ladies that passed along this award to me recently :) Thanks Charlotte and Sarah ! I would have sent it along to you two if you hadn't gotten to it first ;)

Liebster means "favorite" or "dearest" in German. This award, which originated in Germany, recognizes up and coming bloggers! In accepting this award, I agree to;

Winning

Not Charlie Sheen style.

Thanksgiving week style:

1. I win at celebrating Stuart's new job. He wins because he got the job. We love this adorable little Italian place in Williamsburg and we got to go (with a coupon!) there to celebrate. Love it. He was so embarrassed to be taking this picture of ourselves in the restaurant. Told him we had to for the blog!
 2. I win at making pies! I make these Toll House pies every Thanksgiving for my family and Stuart's family and they are always a hit. They are like chocolate chip cookie pies. Can't beat em.
 3. I win at choosing running gear for game day. I didn't even do this on purpose, but this is what I had packed to wear for my run through Cville this morning. I had two people high five me and no one yell ugly things at me. I would definitely say that was a win. Please notice my lovely old mascara as eye black to make this photo that much more tough.
 4. I win at cute house divided pictures (welllll really I win at having a cute boyfriend, I look exhausted). We finally got one! This was after our first score and its a darn good thing I got it then because I doubt it would have happened once we got up by 21 :)
 5. I WIN at being a HOKIE! Weeee shut out those hoos in hooville and oh my it was sweet. Weeeellll a little bittersweet cause I have an unhappy hoo at home tonight, but he will get over it. We are ACC Championship bound babaaayyy! I will be watching from a hotel somewhere in Tennessee after the big race, but I will be there in spirit! (Side note: I love bud means that I love our defensive coordinator, not illegal drugs or Bud Light... hehe)

Disclaimer: I know that "I win at" is not really proper grammar. I found it necessary for this post.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving week!!! So happy to be a Hokie tonight!!!!!

For Me, It's Not About The Food

No really, it's not. I don't like Thanksgiving food. I never have. I will eat my Sister Schubert rolls (oh my goodness if you have never had these do it nooowwww), my delish salad and my homemade Toll House pie (recipe to come later this week) with my family. With Stuart's parents I will probably eat a little ham, some more salad (they make it special for me, haha), perhaps more bread and more pie. And Diet Coke. The pilgrims and indians probably wouldn't have been down, but I certainly am.

I love Thanksgiving simply because I get to be with my family (and some very special friends). I also just love to party, for any reason. Also, Thanksgiving is usually the week before my birthday and I get some presents. So that's fun too, haha.

I heard in church on Sunday that we should be thankful every day. And I agree. A simple "thank you" can go a looonnnggggg way. And a shoutout to God to thank him for all he's blessed us with every day is important too. I'm not perfect, but I am working on it.

And since no thanksgiving post is complete without a thankful list, here is mine:

  • My awesomely amazing family. Seriously, I couldn't ask for better, more supportive, more loving parents and I am thankful for a little sister that keeps me on my toes :)
  • Stuart. I have never felt so thankful for him than I have after the past year. He is the best support system and my safe place. God truly sent him for me.
  • My bffs. Seriously. These girls (and Jim) are the ones who have been there for me through thick and thin and crazy and sane. I don't know what I would do without you guys.
  • The new friendships I have made through blogging. It's crazy that people read the things I write and can relate to me. Y'all are too sweet (girls that have awarded me recently, I have seen and read and will be posting later this week about them!! thank you so much!)
  • Speaking of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. I am so thankful for the marathon on Nick at Nite. I watch this show every night before bed and I have been without my DVD collection this week. Now I can finally sleep :)
  • A roof over my head, a warm bed, food for my belly, and a car to drive.
  • My health and a body that can and will be running a 1/2 marathon next weekend. I am so blessed to be able to do the things I do and go the places I go.
  • God. Without him, I would be nothing.
  • Jesus, for washing away my sins and loving me enough to go through the pain of the cross. J-man I can't wait to start celebrating your (our) birthday month on Friday!
Happy Tgiving y'all!

The Rivalry

As most of you probably know, I attend the best university in the state of Virginia, and in my opinion, the nation :). I bleed orange and maroon and there is nothing I love more than supporting my Virginia Tech Hokies, especially in football.

Most of you also know that I date a wahoo, or a cavalier from UVa. My dad may have cringed when I told him Stuart and I were dating 2 1/2 years ago, but they've grown to like him a little ;).

I also spend a lot of time in Cville and I have grown to love that city. It has some great restaurants, is tucked in the mountains and I am my happiest when I am there (this probably has something to do with Stuart more than the town, haha). I even root for the 'hoos most days (last Saturday was a BIIIGG exception) and Stuart will root for my Hokies most days too. See! (Also notice I will wear the colors, but NOTHING that actually says UVa on it... Stuart wears Tech stuff, bahahahahah!)

However, Saturday is a BIG day. If my relationship makes it past this weekend, it will be a miracle.

Yes, we have played against each other for the Commonwealth Cup before. Yes, we have trashed talked each other for the past two years. But this year is different. This year, not only the Commonwealth Cup (the trophy for the winner of the Tech-UVa game) is on the line, but the coastal division championship for the ACC is as well.

Uva has been on fire this year. So have we. With one loss in early October, we are 10-1 and ranked number 5th in the nation (I thinkkkk this is a little high, but that is for another post). For ths first time, this game might be closely matched. I see UVa fans coming out of the woodwork and jumping on the bandwagon (Stuart has been a tried and true fan through all the terrible years, so I am not talking about him). But the Hokie faithful is tried and true. We will take over Cville Saturday, not only in person, but in morale.

I will be there in all my glory, dressed in my orange and maroon, prepared for some outlash that will be especially nasty this year. I will be tailgating on Stuart's front porch near the stadium surrounded by other Hokie fans, sure to piss of his neighbors, but I don't care. I will be there screaming and cheering for my boys, my seniors, those guys that have never lost to dear ole UVa and won't be losing this weekend.

Sure, Stuart and I will spend Tgiving with each other this year like every year. And yes, we are going to love each other regardless of the trash talk and the outcome of this weekend. But I don't know if we are in the position to like each other at all on Saturday. And to dislike each other one day a year is okay with me, as long as my team is the one winning.

Here's to a house divided and a HOKIE win on Saturday!

Home Sweet Home :)

I am home for a few days this week and I am so happy to be here. Even though I live in the 'burg and have spent way more time there the past five years than here, I still consider the 757 my home. And yes, we do rep the 757 area code to talk about where we live :).

I spent the day with my friend Heidi shopping out at the outlets and the mall, picked up some Christmas presents and bought a few things for our Angel tree family and one of Heidi's students that she is sponsoring this year. It feels so good to give back, I almost got choked up in Gap hearing Heids talk about her kids. I then went to Hev's and spent a little time with her helping her get organized... I do it every time I come home :)

Stuart just got back into town an hour or two ago and we are in the process of making plans with some of his (well our) friends that we haven't seen in a while. As much as I love the 'burg it is so nice to be at home with people I don't get to see very often. I got to have my favorite homecooked meal by my momma, spaghetti! Now I am sitting here listening to the Tech Talk show and just hanging out. It is so nice to relax.

Now, some dry shampoo drama. I ran out to grab some yesterday because I had run out just before coming home. Y'all knoooowwww I LOVE my Suave dry shampoo. I went to three Targets and a Walmart before having to settle for another brand. I will be trying it out tomorrow and letting you know how it goes! It cost about 5 bucks, which is twice as much as my beloved Suave!!

Hope y'all are having a great Thanksgiving week thus far :)

Randoms

1. I am in Cville until tomorrow and we have spent today running up and down 29 and watching football... there have been some c-r-azyyyyy upsets going on. As much as I love an underdog, I am really hoping Clemson comes back, seeing as they are our one loss this season :)

2. I forgot to bring a jacket home. Or to Cville. And I have been FREEZING all day. I didn't even bring a sweatshirt. It is November. I am stupiiiiddd.

3. I have had 3 1/2 bagels in less than 24 hours. I had two yesterday for lunch and one and a half today for breakfast. Carb loading much? Bodo's is just sooooo good!

4. For my own team's sake, I wish Florida State would beat UVA tonight. But for my personal sanity, I might be rooting for UVA since I am in Cville with my football crazy boyfriend. We shall see.

5. Holy cow, NCST just scored again. Poor little tigers.

6. I love lists. And Mellow Mushroom. And I am on my way to Mellow now. Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Pet Peeves

After having a little chat with one of my friends this morning (Claaaiiree) I got to thinking about my pet peeves. I know everyone has them and I think the different things that bother people are so interesting. Here are a few of mine:

1. People that scratch their tights/pantyhose. It seriously gives me the chills. I HATE IT. Thank God for leggings because I would never make it through winter without them to wear under my dresses. I also have a few pairs of cotton tights that work nicely as well :)
2. People That Type Like This. I have no idea why capitalizing each letter is appealing. First of all, it takes FOREVER to type that way and second of all, I want to know who your English teacher was. As someone with a B.A. in English, it literally pains me.
3. Other drivers. Period. I have the worst road rage haha.
4. Shirts that aren't long enough. If I buy them big enough to be long enough, they are too big. If I buy them small enough to fit, you can see my belly button. I think shirts should be sold in lengths too :)
5. Shipping costs on things I order online. Drives me cray crayyyy!

Do y'all have any pet peeves or share any of mine? Let me know!

Two Tip Tuesday

Because I am in the middle of studying for a policy exam, learning the stuff I need to know for a Math quiz, a huge project at work annnnddd trying to pack for Tgiving all before Jim arrives tomorrow night, today is gonna be short!

Just thought I'd share two of my cheap/useful beauty tips with y'all:
1. Vaseline as eye makeup remover! Love love love love love this tip. Vaseline is so cheap and I have been doing this for about three months and the jar looks barely dented. I just take a little swipe with my finger, apply it on my eyelids, eyelashes and under my eyes and wipe with a tissue. So cheap, so easy, so good for your eyes! The bags under my eyes have never looked smoother ;)

2. Suave's Dry Shampoo. I'm going to be honest with y'all. I'm not much of a brand whore when it comes to beauty products. If it works and its cheap, I'm probably going to try it out. When I was 20 I went to New Jersey/New York with one of my best friends to visit her roommate. Her roommate had this magical concoction called dry shampoo that I had never seen before and it changed my life. Seriously. We went to a local beauty supply store and I happily spent more money than I normally would have for it. And I loved it. However, I use it at least three times a week and it goes by pretty quickly. Enter, Suave. It is about 2 dollah dollah bills at Target and works just as well. Ah-maiz-ing. It lets me sleep in a few mornings a week and actually gives my hair some volume that I need. B-e-a-utiful. Side note: Stuart hates the way it smells. He thinks it smells like gummy candy. However, I have gotten compliments on the smell before. Just a warning!

Happy Tuesday!

Wish List!

I know some of you have already started enjoying that red Starbuck's cup with your Christmas music (me, cough, Claire, cough) while others of you are trying to take back the turkey (my boyfriend included) buttttt because my birthday is at the beginning of December I thought I'd share my birthday/Christmas list with y'all. It has already been signed, sealed and delivered to both Stuart and my Momma (who passes it on) and is something requested every year, so don't y'all think I'm just a greedy Ginger!

Here are just a few things I want (I honestly have everything I need, I am a lucky and blessed girl):

  • Cowboy Boots. I love the simplcity and the color of these. I have been borrowing my friend Heather's dads for a while (long story, I have huge feet) and now I think it is time for some of my own :) Found here .

  •  I love to read and I have always loved presidents! Fun fact, I always get pajamas and a book on Christmas eve from my parents. My sister and I always have :) Found on Amazon.
  •  Love this faux ivory cape from Loft.
  •  New monogram earrings. I love the ones I have now but they have had better days. Found at Marley Lilly!
  •  I have been looking for a huge, heavy cardigan to snuggle up in by the fire. At least that's how I picture it ;). I am a big fan of anything ivory or oatmeal! From Old Navy.
  •  I am not a huge necklace wearer, but I think I would make an exception for this one. Loooveeeeee it! Also from the great Marley Lilly :)
  •  Yep, another book. I just love Tim Tebow and I think he is such a great role model for young men. Again found on Amazon.
  •  Tory's Revas in Leopard. I have always been an animal print lover and I think these would look precious on my feet. Feel free to purchase them for me ;). Found here.
  • I could also use some new heavy duty Nike sports bras, some leggings in black and brown, socks and any new fall nail polish :)
Side note: Matilda is on ABC Family right now. I haven't seen it in forever, loooveee this movie. Happy Monday night y'all!

Harryyy Pottah and Delivered Cookies

This summer Stuart and I spend the week before the last Harry Potter movie came out watching all of them (him for the billionth time, me for the first time) and now with the final movie coming out on DVD it is a HP weekend on ABCFam. Unfortunately for me I am spending tonight and most of tomorrow babysitting for a family that doesn't have cable. However, they do have the first two HP movies on dvd so I am currently watching them and waiting for my campus cookies to arrive :). Is it sad I had to order 7 dollars worth of cookies (and a Sbux drink) to get them to deliver? Haha.

Watching the HP movies made me think back to the first summer Stuart and I started dating.

You see, I used to go over to he and his friends house and watch movies with them almost every night. And pretty much every night, I would fall asleep in the middle of them, especially during the HP movies which I had no desire to see whatsoever.

We went from friends to dating that summer pretty quickly (like in a weeks time and neither one of us was expecting it) and I can distinctly remember my new boyfriend telling me that I was awfully cute when I was sleeping and I was awfully cute when I was awake, but I was just plain awful when someone woke me up. Sadly, that was him most evenings that he drove me home, haha :) It is still true to this day. I do NOT like to be woken up for ANY reason!

Also, I ordered my cookies over an hour ago and they were supposed to take 45 minutes. I am the most impatient person I know. Seriously, I need that chocolate to convince me that no one will break in and murder me tonight while I am alone in these people's house.

Thank goodness I am watching the 1st two HP's and not some of the last ones alone- those are scary themselves!!!

Hope y'all are having a more happening Friday than me!

Third Down Thursday

Happy Thursday y'all.

I'm all cozied up in my apartment watching my HOKIES play. We have a big game in Atlanta tonight versus GT and the Yellow Jackets and I am so nervous. I live and breathe my hokie football. My lame (just for tonight) roommate decided to leave me and head to Radford tonight and all my triple d's are at a social (I am waaayyy to alum to go to a social) so I am here watching it by myself. Sad. Yes. But PTL I have twitter and imessage to get me through :)

I'm spending the weekend babysitting an adorable little four year old so expect some posts after he goes to bed at 7:30. Does anyone else get nervous sleeping at other people's houses? I definitely do. Plus they don't have cable. How am I supposed to calm my nerves? I have F.R.I.E.N.D.S. on dvd thank gooodness, haha.

I spent the afternoon observing court in the next town over and oh my goodness, it was crazy. The first big case we saw had to do with a stepmother giving her ELEVEN year old stepdaugter cigarettes. Seriously? ELEVEN. How ridiculous is that? She was eleven. I just can't fathom.

I also got my haircut today. I like the cut but the girl who did it just blowdryed it with a flat brush and used a straightener. Can a girl get some volume? Seriously, I can't do it at home so I wanted at least one good day of voluptuous hair!! It needed to be trimmed badly so I'm excited it will cut down on my own styling time at least.

Also, can I just say I scream at the TV every other sentence. Efff Al Groh and his defense and GT and their triple option offense. I just want us to escape the ATL with a big ole' dub-ya. My ultimate goal is to be holed up in a hotel after the big 1/2 marathon watching my babies play for the ACC championship and in order to do that we need to WIN (and beat UNC and UVA).

All I gotta say.

GO HOKIES!

Versatile!

One of my favorite bloggers and email friend gave me an award last week. Claire over at Life in the Sweet Virginia Breeze! Claire, you are amazing and I am so grateful for our bloggy friendship! We have the best little email conversations. Y'all go over and check her out. She has the best posts about fashion and all things Virginia related. I love a fellow Virginia girl! Thank you, thank you :)

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the lovely blogger who gave you the award. Check!
2. Tell 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass it on to 15 others!

I'm trying to think of seven things I haven't told y'all yet. I tend to be pretty open on this little blog :)
  1. I can't/don't/won't drink wine other than Moscato, and I have to even cut that with a little sprite. Beer can be as dark as can be and I will love it, but I just can't seem to find a love of wine (other than the Olive Garden Moscato... SO GOOD!)
  2. I love old movies. Gone with the Wind; Yours, Mine and Ours; Wizard of Oz; Meet Me in St. Louis, etc. I love hearing the way they talk and using that as a little looking glass back in time. Perfect :)
  3. I still sleep with a "blankie" when I am at home at my parent's house. It is actually the comforter from the twin bed that matched my crib bedding when I was born. It is so soft and huge and I love it. I seriously considered bringing it to college with me.
  4. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of homemade gifts. Don't get me wrong, I love any gift that took some thought, but something that is homemade gets me every time. Stuart made me a huge heart out of records he melted together, spray painted red and then took 45's, melted them and cut out the centers and put pictures of us in them. Probably my favorite gift ever.
  5. I used to spit at the sign for UVA whenever we drove past it on 64. Now, I adore Charlottesville. I almost feel like I am turning my back on everything I know for love. Ridiculous, I know. That being said, I want engagement photos taken on the Lawn at UVA as well as the Drillfield at Tech. House divided baby!
  6. I love game shows and board games. Nicole and I watch the Newlywed game followed by Jeopardy every night. We also have more board games than two people should. One of my favorite activities is to stay in with some friends and a few beers and play a few board games. Just call me Mildred :)
  7. I'm a crier. I tear up over just about anything. I still cry whenever Stuart and I leave each other and I can't stand to see other people cry. I wish I could help it but I do like the color my eyes turn after I cry, haha.
Thanks again Claire! I am a little in a hurry and I love all of your blogs so if you want to answer the questions/need a blog prompt consider yourself awarded. You are all lovely ladies!

Happy Tuesday!

Just Another Manic Monday

It seems like all I have been doing lately is posting weekend recap and iPhone pictures. And today isn't any different :)

I got to see Stuart for two weekends in a row, and boy was it nice (even if he did end up with the flu, blech). We went out Friday night with my roommate and some friends after hitting up an afternoon movie on the super cheap. Love coupons!
 Rooms and I
 S and I
Linds and I

PS I actually used dry shampoo instead of washing and blowdrying my hair because I was short on time. Can you tell? I hate the residue that ends up at my roots sometimes.

We spent all of Saturday on the couch, recovering from Friday and watching football. UVA was playing Maryland and of course Stuart required that we tune in ;). They ended up winning and after that I decided to finally get off my butt and go for a run. And look what happened:
Yes, that is my knee. And it looks/feels worse today. I somehow tripped on the sidewalk (I think? All I know is that I was running one minute and was down the next) and ripped apart both knees and my hands. Fortunately my iphone and adorable case made it... that was my first priority, haha. I ended up walking down the street for about ten minutes before getting ahold of Stuart to come get me, blood running down my leg. I was a sight for sure!

I may or may not have had a break down about the 1/2 after I got back, but I know taking a day or two off won't kill me and I have been babying my wounds like crazy trying to get them in better condition. I am having a hard time bending or straightening my leg at all and both knees are pretty bruised too, as well as one of my ankles. Only time will tell. Any prayers would be welcome!

Saturday night my little bit, her boyfriend (such a fun story about how they met, I will tell it sometime) my sorority sister Linds, her man and her momma all came over to watch the LSU-Bama game. Let me just say I was rooting for Bama but those missed FG's... my goodness! Everyone ended up leaving before the end of the game and we went to pick my roommate and her boy up from downtown and got back just to see LSU kick the winning field goal... so disappointing.

Sunday morning we got up before eight for something very special :). My little bit got baptized! I can remember talking about my faith with her over spring break and her telling me about growing up not going to church and going to a Jewish preschool and not being really interested in going to church. She let me know earlier this week she has been going to a local church with her roommate from freshman year and she made the big decision to become baptized as a Christian. I couldn't be prouder of her. Stuart and I got up and met her and Josh, her friend Karen and Lindsay and her momma Sunday morning and attended the service. Because they hold church at the high school, they don't have a baptismal so we all went outside and there was steaming water in a little tub! She even got up and shared her testimony during the service on Sunday morning. Here she is!

Couldn't be prouder of her. Seriously. I got choked up. So incredibly filled with joy for her!

We ended the weekend by grabbing Panera and heading back to bed... Stuart ended up with the flu and I headed off to babysit and EG (the girl I babysit) ended up with a stomach bug. Fortunately I seem to have warded off the germs (for now, knock on wood!)

Hope you all had a great weekend

What I'm Loving...Thursday?

I didn't participate in Jamie's WILW like I usually do, but I thought I'd throw together a few things that I am loving on this Thursday :)

The shopping I got done and my J Crew package that I finally went to the UPS store and bought. I ended up getting two pairs of pants from LOFT for five dollars.  A pair of trouser jeans and a pair of capri's made in the same material! They were marked down to $4.88 per pair and all their sale stuff was 50% off. SOOOOOO happy! I love a good deal. Plus they were both in my size and were the only two left :). Score! That never happens to me because I tend to wear a size lots of people do. Here are the jeans. I also got two adorable J Crew tops and a super cute sheer shirt for going out in. I will be sure to post pictures when I wear them. I looked online and couldn't find any of them (as I tend to be a sale shopper, hehe)

I had a great "roomie date" with Nicole today. We went to Roanoke to do said shopping and ending up heading to our favorite Mexican restaurant tonight for dinner. I was studying all night Tuesday night and she was at her boyfriend's last night so it was nice to just chat and hang out away from the house! Here we are earlier this fall at one of our favorite bars!

Stuart is on his way here as we speak! We never get to spend weekends together without a ton of plans and our only plans this weekend are to hang out, watch some football and go to dinner Saturday night with my little and her boyfriend. It will be so nice to do what we want when we want without having to worry about other people or work around schedules :)

Also, my little is getting baptized on Sunday and I could not be happier/prouder of her. She just started going to church more recently with her sweet boyfriend and I am so glad she has decided to make this step. We are going Sunday morning to be there for her and I am just thrilled to pieces. Love her so much!

On a much sillier note, Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood is coming back and I literally SCREAMED when I heard this morning. I LOVE TORI SPELLING! There, I said it. My dirty little secret. I have read all of her books and watched every season of her shows. I love her. I know I shouldn't, but I do. And I am thrilled she will be back on! Plussss this follows the pregnancy of little Hattie Margaret (not my favorite name but I love Liam and Stella) and I am so so so so so excited!

Have a great Thursday night y'all. I will be watching the season premiere of Bones and waiting for S to arrive!!!

Wacky Wednesday

So I had a What I'm Loving Wednesday post prepared but I found this, and after a series of events tonight it is the onnnlyyy thing that made me laugh.

Disclaimer: If you do not like semi-crude humor, read no further. If you think farts are funny, read ahead.

I found this here.  Which seems to be a Standford University computer science humor site from 1995? I have no idea. I stumbled upon it and it cracked me up. Maybe its because I can be a 14 year old boy sometimes. Maybe its because this could happen to me (except I hate beans). Maybe its because I laugh at silly things. Hopefully this will make you chuckle too.

"Once upon a time there lived a man who had a terrible passion for baked beans. He loved them, he adored them, he yearned for them. But they always caused him a great deal of embarrassment shortly after eating them. The reaction of his body to the beans was swift and terrible to behold.

One day he met a girl and fell in love. When it became apparent that they would marry, he realized she might be even more embarrassed and humiliated by his addiction to baked beans. He decided to make the supreme sacrifice and give up his beloved baked beans. A short time later they were married.

Some months later, on his way home from work, his car broke down. He was not too far from home so he decided to leave the car and walk the rest of the way. He passed a small roadside cafe and decided to call his wife and tell her that he would be late for supper. As he entered the cafe, the smell of baked beans overwhelmed him. He still had several miles to go, and decided that he could walk off any after-effects before reaching home. Before he knew it, he had eaten three large plates of baked beans. Even as he left the cafe, the effects began to be felt. He pooted up a hill, and poot-pooted down the other side. As he grew closer to home, the frequency and forcefulness diminished greatly, and he felt reasonably safe.

Just as he reached his home, however, he felt a great rumbling inside and was seized with a terrible urgency. As he waited just outside his front door to release one last effort, his wife threw open the door. She excitedly exclaimed, "Darling, I have made the most wonderful surprise dinner for you." She blindfolded him and led him to his chair at the head of the table. Just as she was ready to remove the blindfold, the phone rang. She made him promise not to peek until she returned and went to answer the phone.

When she had gone, he seized the opportunity, shifted his weight to one leg and loudly broke wind. It was not only loud, but as ripe as a rotten egg. He had a hard time breathing, so he took his napkin and began to fan the air about him. He just started feeling better when he felt another urge. He again raised one leg and let her rip. It sounded like a tuba and smelled so bad that he started gagging. He fanned until his arms ached. Things had just about returned to normal when he felt another powerful urge. He shifted his weight to the other leg and let go. This was the prize-winner. The windows rattled, the dishes on the table shook and a minute later the flowers on the table were dead.

While keeping one ear on the conversation in the hallway, he continued like this for the next 15 or 20 minutes, fanning away each time with his napkin. When the sounds of farewells indicated the end of the telephone conversation, he neatly laid his napkin in his lap and folded his hands on top of it. Smiling contentedly, he was the picture of innocence when his wife returned to the room.

Apologizing for talking so long, she asked if he had peeked. After assuring her that he had not, she removed the blindfold, revealing the dinner guests seated around the table for his surprise birthday party!"

November!

I cannot believe it. Seriously cannot believe that it is November! October is one of my favorite months here in the commonweath because it is simply gorgeous. And with all those road miles I'm logging traveling from Cville and back, and even home and back this month, the beautiful foliage (I feel so adult when I use that word, haha) makes for a super pleasant drive!

The 1st of November also marks a month until my birthday (almost) on December 2nd and a little over a month until the St. Jude 1/2 Marathon for Team Kick on December 3rd. Can we say panic mode? Usually I am counting down the days until my birthday, but this year I am ALLLLLL nerves.

I keep trying to remind myself that I am not a runner, and I am doing my best, but honestly, that's not true. I am a runner because I choose to get off my butt and run 3-4 days a week. And really, right now, I am not dedicating as much time to running as a should. But, I am fitting it in 3-4 days a week in between school, working and trying to spend as much time with that boy as I can. And I am okay with that. I didn't make the decision to run this because I wanted to show off my running skillz (I am channeling my hometown today and the z just made sense, haha), I decided to run because I wanted to raise money for children's cancer. And that's what I'm doing.

I have come a long way in my running, and instead of panicking before a 3 mile run,  I look forward to it because it is one of my short runs! I am still not fast, but I'm chugging along and I am so glad my baby sister is running it with me. And S just let me know that he is planning on hopping in the car with my parents and coming to support me along with my bff Heidi. So happpyyy to spend my birthday and that weekend with them!

I would like to give a biiiggg shout out to those miles because despite eating like a banshee, I haven't gained any weight (most days, aka the days I eat microwave popcorn and Diet Coke for dinner).  However, it would have been nice to lose a few pounds and I think this last month before the 1/2 I am really going to be conscious of what I put in my mouth. Not only for my pants sake, but for the sake of my body on handling this 1/2 marathon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not inhaling whole cakes and pizzas at a time. But I loooooveee me some chocolate and the fact that we have M&M's and Hershey Kisses in bowls around my apartment is no good for me.

So here's to some November goals:
*Complete a shorter race before the 1/2 (I'm thinking a 5K in Charlottesville in two weeks for one of Stuart's roommates organizations)
*Track/be conscious of what I am putting into my body
*Enjoy the time at home with my family and friends over the Tgiving break!
*Get my schoolwork done :)

Happy 11.1.11 y'all. Can't wait til 11.11.11 so I can be wishing alllllll day ;)
